Merry Christmas Burr Oak Family!
December is bringing many opportunities for us to gather with each other and engage our community. There is the Albion Christmas in the Village on Dec 6th, which we will be caroling from 3-3:30 across from the post office. That same day is also the breakfast with Santa hosted by the Lions Club. Dec 13th will bring the Noble Township breakfast with Santa
which we provide the eggs for. Dec 19th will be the Noble Township Parade of Lights which we will need cookies and hot-cocoa for. Dec 21st will bring our annual Candlelight Service. This year we are hosting Countrylane and Wolf Lake Baptist Churches as well. Finally there is our annual Taste of Wyoming Saturday Dec 27th at 6:30 pm.
Yet, amidst the busyness of this time of year let us not lose focus. We celebrate this time of year because our God came to seek
and save the lost! And each of us need him each and every day. Because while this can be a joyous time of year for some it is not. For some this is their first Christmas missing a loved one. For some anxiety levels are heightened as they strive for the picture perfect Christmas. Joy and happiness will not come from every decoration in its perfect spot, or each family member perfectly in place for a moment captured in time. Pain from loss is not meant to cause us to retreat but to engage more
fully with life.
So enjoy this time of year! Eat the extra piece of pie, build the snowman, wear the ugly Christmas sweater, sing the songs at the top of your lungs! We celebrate because the powers of darkness can no longer contain us!
"The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it" - John 1:5
